Human rights are the basic freedoms and protections that belong to every person, simply because they are human. These rights apply to everyone equally, regardless of race, religion, gender, nationality, or social status. Human rights ensure that people can live with dignity, freedom, and security.
After the devastating impact of the World War II, the international community recognized the urgent need to protect human dignity. In response, the United Nations adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948, establishing a global framework to promote and protect fundamental rights.
Human rights include freedoms such as the right to life, freedom of speech, access to education, and equality before the law. These rights are essential for building peaceful and fair societies where individuals can grow and contribute positively.
Although many countries have made progress in protecting these rights, challenges such as discrimination, poverty, and injustice still exist. Protecting human rights requires continuous effort from governments, organizations, and individuals.
