The rate of divorce is rapidly increasing worldwide

Thanks to the internet, today we are more or less aware that in Europe, America, and the Western world in general, the marriage rate is declining. Each year, the number of marriages steadily decreases. Particularly, young men in these countries are losing interest in entering into marital bonds with women. At the same time, worldwide, especially in the Western world, the rate of divorces is rapidly increasing. According to some sources, in the United States, 50% of marriages ultimately end in divorce. Constructive analysis on these issues is rarely seen in mainstream media. Discussions are generally framed from the women’s perspective, often absolving women, the legal system, and society of responsibility while placing the entire burden on men. Let us briefly analyze the reasons behind the declining interest of men in marriage from the male perspective:

According to marriage and divorce laws in Western countries, including Europe and America, from the day a couple gets married until the day they divorce, the higher-earning spouse legally owns their income and assets. In the event of a divorce, the lower-earning or non-earning spouse is entitled to half of those assets. It goes without saying that in most marriages, the husband is the higher earner, and the wife often depends on him financially. Therefore, after divorce, wives generally receive half of the husband’s long-accumulated wealth and assets effortlessly. If they wish, they can claim the husband’s movable and immovable property, including houses, cars, land, or commercial assets, to secure their share. Often, women prefer to acquire the husband’s house or car rather than cash and succeed in doing so easily. In effect, under direct judicial oversight, the husband’s property is transferred to the wife. Over the past few decades in the Western world, especially in the U.S., divorce has become a major avenue for women to accumulate wealth. Even among the world’s wealthiest women, a large portion of their assets comes from marriage and divorce settlements. On the other hand, many men, dispossessed of their parental or self-earned property, are left homeless and forced to struggle to survive.
